60th Anniversary Celebration
"Diamonds in the Ear"
2007 was the 60th Anniversary of the Society, which is a fantastic achievement! We had thought of celebrating it by having a special Dinner to be held at the Hotel de France on Friday, 16th November. Unfortunately, ticket sales were so low that the event had to be cancelled.
The Committee were very disappointed and upset at having to cancel the event, but felt that it was better to do so than have a large room only partially filled.
However, many Companies had donated items to be given as prizes for a Raffle which would be held during the Dinner.
We contacted them to explain the situation and they were very happy to extend the deadline for the prizes to be collected, or allowed us to keep the items and so we were able to hold the raffle at a later date. The date for the Raffle was on September 8th 2008 and we are grateful to the Jersey Scouts Association for lending us their Tombola drum to draw the tickets from.
The Committee is grateful to all the Companies who donated prizes, to all those who helped sell tickets and to everyone who bought one (or more!). The total raised was over £700, which is excellent!
